Important Apostille Update!

Pennsylvania Department of State Launches Universal Apostille Format

The Pennsylvania Department of State’s Office of Notaries, Commissions and Legislation has modernized its Apostille process! They recently announced the implementation of a universal Apostille/single certificate that replaces the previous separate format. This streamlined approach simplifies international document authentication.

The key changes are:

  • Universal Certificate: A single certificate now serves all international needs.
  • Multilingual Support: Spanish and French translations have been added to enhance clarity and accessibility.
  • Electronic Seal: There will be a black ink electronic seal, that replaces the gold seal.
  • Online Verification: The authenticity of all certificates can now be verified online using the certification number found on the document.

Please note that this update only affects the appearance of the Apostille/Certification. The process for obtaining authentication remains the same, there will be no additional information or steps required.

The processing fee for an Apostille remains at $15.  Please be aware that if you are mailing your documents to the Secretary of Commonwealth to be Apostilled, expect the processing to take approximately five to seven business days, not accounting for mailing time.

If you need your documents much quicker, I provide same day turnaround time for your Apostilles. You can find out more about my Apostille Services here or click here to schedule an appointment today. I’m here to make your day easier!
